Our story

"Son" has multiple meaning in Vietnamese: Youth, loyalty and bold shades of red. All of which are in our brand's essence and spirit.

Our story began in SunShine Coast, Australia where the days are long and usually spent seaside. Our founder, Sam Nguyen, is a Vietnamese-Australian interior designer whose keen eye for details, forms and materials developed a high standard for quality and aesthetic. Sam's vision for SONSON is to reimagine the Vietnamese traditional handicrafts in collections of refined coastal-inspired sustainable accessories and homewares.

Design to elevate

With the modern Australian women and a sustainability concise in mind, our products are designed to be unique, timeless with a touch of effortlessness.
SONSON's products are handmade in small batches from eco friendly materials such as local bamboo, rattan and raffia. SONSON combines the elegance and consciousness of these materials with bold, modern forms to dress for life’s milestones and everyday moments with ease and style.

Made with care

Craft villages formed and developed in Vietnam since as early as 17th century. In these community, the skill has been taught, practiced and spread by generations.

We work directly with artisans from craft villages across the country, with most of our weavers are women. They work in the comfort of their own homes where they can care for their families and tend to daily chores. The job helps to provide financial security, education for the children and plan for the future.
